Vision of the church

We exist to Honour God, Love Others and Share Truth.

‘Vision of the church - We exist to Honour God, Love Others and Share Truth’.

This we seek to do by concentrating on the following Key areas

Honour God

As a local church, we are committed to honouring God in all that we do. From the truth we preach to the way we love and serve one another, from our gathered worship to our everyday witness, we desire that every word, attitude, and action reflects His character.
Our faith is not something we merely confess, but something we practise with humility, integrity, and joy. In all things, great or small, our longing is that Christ is seen, His name is treasured, and everything redounds to His glory alone.

Love Others

As a local church, we are committed to loving others as Christ has loved us. Regardless of background, ethnicity, creed, life story, or how someone understands themselves, every person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
We seek to reflect the heart of God by creating a community where people are welcomed warmly, listened to carefully, and valued deeply. Within our church family, we aim to cultivate an environment marked by acceptance, grace, and genuine care, so that all who come among us encounter something of the kindness and love of God.

Share Truth

As a local church, we are firmly committed to the Scriptures as the authoritative and infallible Word of God, the sure and sufficient foundation for all faith and practice. We believe the Bible is God-breathed, trustworthy, and enduringly relevant, revealing His character, His purposes, and His saving work in Christ.
Therefore, we seek not only to teach it faithfully but to live under its authority, shaping our beliefs, our decisions, and our conduct according to its truth. In every season, we stand by its principles and joyfully submit to its wisdom as our final rule and guide.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

Statement of Faith

We believe in...

We believe in

  • The divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture as originally given, its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct, and the need of the teaching of the Holy Spirit to a true and spiritual understanding of it.
  • The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  • The sovereignty of God in Creation, Providence, Revelation, Redemption and Final Judgement.
  • The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the Fall rendering man subject to God’s righteous anger and condemnation.
  • Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God.
  • The Justification of the sinner freely by grace through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His vicarious death; His bodily resurrection from the dead; His ascension to heaven to be our mediator and the certainty of His visible and personal return with great glory.
  • The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective to the individual sinner granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ, and giving new spiritual birth (regeneration).
  • The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in all His fullness in the believer to make him more like the Lord Jesus Christ, equipping him with spiritual gifts for service and enabling him to worship aright.
  • The resurrection of the body, the judgement of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ and the eternal blessedness in heaven of the redeemed and the eternal punishment in hell of the unbelieving.
  • The priesthood of all the believers who form the one holy universal Church, the body of which Christ is the head.
  • Each ‘local church’ as an autonomous ‘gathered community’ of regenerate believers living in fellowship with all other believers within the body of Christ; each local church having liberty under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to interpret and administer the Word of God.

MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

We exist for the sole purpose of

helping people follow Jesus.

MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

Gathered together in the family of God our Father,
with whom we are at peace through our Lord Jesus Christ,
we gladly promise to love him with all our heart,
and we solemnly covenant with Him and with one another to support loyally this church,
believing that it is a habitation of God through the Spirit,
and part of the one Church of the redeemed,
belonging to both heaven and earth,
We promise that we will assemble regularly,
in order to offer to the Lord our prayer and praise,
to hear his word,
to partake of the symbols of his body once broken,
and to share in the fullness of life
of his continuing body, the Church,
we will support this church financially,
and take our share in its work and witness,
using the gifts and power he has given us,
thus helping to extend His kingdom
at home and abroad.
We will endeavour to be an example to each other
in love and humility,
to bear one another’s burdens,
and to keep the unity of the Spirit
in the bond of peace.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever, Amen."

By the power and grace that comes from the Holy Spirit, I commit myself to the Body of Christ and the work of God at Tanterton Christian Fellowship.
